This was taken on the first evening I went to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. I went there, because I had lost my way artistically and went to remember the lines in nature. It was to remember that the lines in the dunes speak the most to me of the art I wish to share.
Lyrical lines are those that sway and move and change a static scene into a dance. As our eyes follow those lines, we begin to sway in the most basic of dances. From there we move to the rhythm that speaks of the movements of life.
This image holds for me both the randomness and the mystique of winds, sand, time of year, and time of day. All came together in a manner that makes me return to this image day in and day out. It captures for me the the essence of what makes the sand dunes the Great Sand Dunes. It is the rhythm and responsiveness of the sand to the wind. Two basic elements come together to breath a visual dance.
